Hanoi prioritizes rebuilding severely deteriorated bridges
Hanoi plans to prioritize the repair and replacement of severely deteriorated and unsafe bridges from 2024 to 2025. The city has identified 144 bridges in deteriorating condition, with 55 managed by the city and 89 identified by local areas for new construction, replacement, or rehabilitation. The Department of Transport has categorized the bridges into three groups based on investment priority, with preparations for new bridge construction set for 2024-2025 and construction and operation to follow between 2026 and 2030. Due to limited resources, a 50-50 funding split between city and local budgets is suggested for new bridge construction.
