British mother warns of dengue fever after losing son in Thailand
Jayne Toulson-Burke from Davenport lost her son to dengue fever in Thailand in 2016. She urges travelers to be aware of the symptoms and demand a blood test for the virus. Dengue is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions, with over five million reported cases and 2,000 deaths in 2024. It is encroaching into areas previously considered disease-free, including parts of Europe.
