Coral Bleaching Identified in Moo Koh Surin National Park and Phi Phi Island
The DMCR identified seven coral bleaching sites in Moo Koh Surin National Park, with bleaching ranging from 5% to 50%. Similar issues are affecting more than 50% of coral reefs around Krabi's Phi Phi Island. The national park is closed for the rainy season and plans to reopen on October 15. Temporary closures of snorkeling and scuba diving activities are in place in affected areas. The marine national park has designated new snorkeling areas for visitors to use, aiming to mitigate the impact on vulnerable coral sites.
