Rampant Wildfires Threaten Northern Thailand
An estimated 1 million rai of land in 10 provinces in northern Thailand are at risk of wildfires, with 1,532 hot spots detected nationwide. The fires are attributed to local practices and have encroached upon conservation areas and agricultural zones. Regional countries are also grappling with over 4,700 hot spots. In related news, a wildfire in Trat province remains uncontained and poses a risk to a nearby forest.
