Thailand approves 8 billion baht scheme to reduce PM2.5 pollution from sugarcane farming
The Thai government has approved a scheme worth 8 billion baht to incentivise sugarcane farmers to modify their harvesting methods in order to reduce PM2.5 pollution. The initiative encourages farmers to cut fresh sugarcane without burning the residue, with compensations of 120 baht per tonne. The scheme aligns with WTO agreements and aims to assist sugarcane farmers in reducing air pollution and PM2.5 dust.
