Consumer Advocacy Groups Oppose Proposed Increase in Electricity Tariffs
Consumer advocacy groups have asked the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to review data used to calculate the Fuel Adjustment Charge (Ft) to ensure fairness. The estimated Ft charge for January to April 2023 may be higher than reality. The ERC has estimated an oversupply of 7,306 million units of electricity, leading to a cost of 21,187 million baht. The Chair of the Consumer Council's Committee on Public Services, Energy, and Environment suggests using a four-month average exchange rate and reviewing the cost of LNG. The country's power generation system currently has an oversupply of electricity.
