Protest Groups Urge Royal Thai Army to Oppose Bail Request by Ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra
Protest groups have petitioned the Royal Thai Army to resist any bail request anticipated from former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, who faces lese majeste and computer crime charges. Thaksin has denied the charges from an interview in 2015 and is expected to meet prosecutors on June 18. However, the Justice Minister and Defence Minister stated that the army cannot intervene as it is not the official investigator in the case. Thaksin, who was indicted on May 29, has recovered from Covid-19 and is ready to confront the charges of insulting the monarchy.
