Woman develops lung infection after inhaling fungal spores from feeding pigeons
A woman in Bangkok who regularly fed pigeons developed a lung infection after inhaling fungal spores, leading to a mass in her lung that required surgery to remove. Despite having no symptoms, she was diagnosed with cryptococcal pneumonia. Doctors suspect the infection was caused by inhaling spores from pigeon droppings. She is now undergoing antifungal treatment and has been advised to avoid feeding pigeons and areas where they congregate.
