Thai Government Approves Subsidies on Energy Costs for Vulnerable Groups
The Thai government has approved subsidies on electricity bills, and set caps on cooking gas and diesel prices to alleviate the burden of increasing energy costs. The measures, costing billions of baht, will be funded by the state Oil Fuel Fund and the government's central budget reserves. Additionally, fuel consumption in Thailand dropped by 2.6% in the first quarter, with declines in gasoline, diesel, and other fuel types.
