Tourists Splurge on Opulent Accommodation and Street Food in Thailand
A Tourism Authority of Thailand survey reveals that foreign tourists are spending more on luxurious accommodation and street food, with average expenditure per trip hitting 50,900 baht. The preference for lavish stays is evident, with a significant portion allocated to accommodation costs. There is also a growing trend of dining at street food stalls, with spending on food and beverage decreasing. Middle Eastern tourists lead in expenditure. Online platforms are increasingly used for trip arrangements, but travel agents remain influential. Additionally, the visa exemption agreement between Thailand and China has led to a surge in bookings from Thai travellers during the Songkran holiday.
