Thai-issued credit card holders to face 1% foreign currency conversion fee
Holders of Thai credit cards will face a 1% fee for foreign currency conversion from May 1. Visa and Mastercard will enforce this fee, affecting transactions made in baht with foreign merchants and ATMs. Cardholders can choose to pay 1% DCC fee or stick to a 2.5% charge for spending in foreign currencies. The change will impact major offshore merchants, while some platforms like Shopee and Lazada are expected to remain unaffected.
