Bangkok Governor Leads Inspection Sweep in Watthana Neighborhood
Bangkok's governor led an inspection in Soi Nana Nuea neighborhood to check for illegal activities including taxi mafia, prostitution, and unauthorised tour guides. The inspection was not related to a recent protest between Thai and Filipino transgenders. The governor expressed concern over disorder in the area, including homelessness and public intoxication. The government found no reported prostitution incidents on an online platform for complaints. The city's jurisdiction is limited to street orders and nuisance complaints. Authorities also investigated the public use of marijuana, finding compliant cannabis shops and expressing concern over easy access to electric cigarettes and sex toys. Meanwhile, Thai immigration officers were investigating a case involving Filipino transgenders alleged to have assaulted Thai transgender individuals. The legality of their stay in Thailand was being determined.
