Crackdown on SIM Card Misuse in Thailand
Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) revealed that over 7,600 individuals in Thailand own over 100 SIM cards each. The NBTC initiated a crackdown, requiring individuals with more than six SIM cards to verify their identities. AIS is the leading operator for those with over 100 SIM cards. AIS plans to revamp its AIS Points programme to offer tailor-made privileges to its 49.1 million customers. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) has suspended services for 13,237 SIM cards misused for making over 100 calls daily.
