Suvarnabhumi Airport to Boost Flight Handling with Third Runway and Satellite Terminal
Transport Minister Suriya Jungroongreangkit announced the imminent completion of Suvarnabhumi Airport’s third runway in July, which will increase flight handling capability from 67 to 94 flights per hour. The airport also inaugurated a Satellite 1 (SAT-1) passenger terminal, resulting in a surge of daily flight numbers to 86, with expectations to reach 112 flights per day by month's end. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin paid a surprise visit amidst reports of a recent biometric system glitch. Airports of Thailand (AOT) revealed a 4.4 billion baht investment plan for Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airport.
