Minister Expresses Confidence in Profitability of Bangkok's Purple and Red Lines
Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit is confident that the state-owned Purple and Red Lines train services in Bangkok will turn a profit within six months, thanks to a new feeder bus system and a fare cap at 20 baht. The income from fare collections has surged since the cap was enforced. The minister also announced plans for a state-of-the-art feeder bus system and a draft bill proposing a single ticket system for all electric train services.
