Thailand to Burn 340 Tonnes of Seized Drugs in Effort to Combat Drug Crisis
Thailand is set to burn 340 tonnes of seized drugs at the Bang Pu Industrial Estate in an effort to combat the drug crisis and create space in government warehouses. The operation, led by Justice and Public Health Ministers, marks the 57th drug incineration and is part of a new policy allowing immediate evidence incineration post-certification. The incineration process will reach 1,800 degrees Celsius and is estimated to cost at least 9 million baht. The Public Health Ministry estimates 1,540,000 drug addicts nationwide, with plans for monthly drug burnings in the upcoming fiscal year.
